At this time are there any announcements and comments from officials Mr. Bullard? Speaker 1 00:05:27 Yes. As you know, for the past seven years, we have been recognizing our veterans in November and we're, we have a program that you're gonna do it again this year. So right now we're out just putting paperwork on the libraries, the Veterans Administration. And so if you have any veteran family, whatever Speaker 2 00:05:57 I be happy to give you. Yes, he's right there. Okay, Speaker 3 00:06:03 Thank you Ms. Daniel. I would just like to say I don't, it, it looks to me like we're not gonna convene again until November. So it is October, which means they'll, Halloween is is gonna be at the end of the month, there'll be a lot of trick or treaters. Obviously it's gotten darker, so we all wanna be very cognizant of pedestrians walking on the street and including those nights. And that is it for me. Thank you Mr. Kahn. Speaker 2 00:06:29 I do have, I wanted to share with the council and the, the public that was in our packet. The council members probably saw it, but I think it's important, I want to read it briefly and share it with the, with the members of the public that, that are here. As you know, several months ago we enacted an ordinance to ban the sale. The sale of guns did the Township of the modified our zoning ordinance got a lot of press at the time, which was nice. The idea was to incurred some other communities, or of course a few political naysayers sort of claimed was, wouldn't do anything, it was unnecessary or so on and so forth. So I want to share with you an e an email that we received from a woman, I won't tell you who it is in, in in Spotswood, who's basically asking for us to come to their assistance. Speaker 2 00:07:25 And it reads, I understand that you recently passed an ordinance prohibiting the opening of a gun shop near schools. As, as a citizen, I would like your advice as to how to proceed with implementing something similar in my town. I'm a resident in spots with New Jersey in our Town. This is the carpet. Shovels recently allowed a gun shop to be open next door to a daycare center and been walking distance from our high school middle school. Many parents are outraged and we are preparing ourselves on how to address this issue. And it goes on to talk about what they're doing. The purpose of our ordinance was proactive and call it, few critics would say, well, Holly G there's no gun shop in town. Why do anything about it? I don't know what the situation necessarily is in Spotswood and I hope that the answer is it's too late. Speaker 2 00:08:14 You know, it's the old expression about the barn door being locked after the horse ran out or whatever. But we, I'm proud of what the Mayor and Council did here is we took action pro proactively so that we don't have a situation where folks are coming in and saying, the gun shop was opened up next to a daycare center in our town. What can you do about it? And the sad answer may be is not a whole heck of a lot you can do if you don't prepare in advance. So I hope I, I'm going to call this person, I, I don't know if there's an answer in spots wood or not, but I would urge other towns to take similar action before they have a spots with problem. I think what we did was the right thing and the responsible thing to do for our community and I'm really proud of the action that we took. Speaker 0 00:09:05 Thanks, Steve. I totally agree, totally agree with that. So thank you for reading that Council's long initial word. Speaker 4 00:09:12 I would just like to remind everybody that this month is breast cancer awareness month. And just remember to continue everybody and to support those people that are fighting the battle, those that have won the battle and those have that have lost people from Speaker 0 00:09:28 The battle. Speaker 4 00:09:29 I'm sure everyone in this room knows somebody that has dealt with breast cancer and it's, it cause very near dear to my home. Speaker 0 00:09:39 I answer that Michelle, make sure that they also do their preventive care and get their mammogram mammograms. Yes. Thank you. Sure. Thank you Mr. Shaw. Mr. Mayor Tim More business Raj. No comment. Thank you. Okay. Alright. I don't have any additional comments at this point, at this time. The floor is open to the public. Speaker 2 00:15:40 Have a question for from the Mayor, where are we in the bid process? I know we went out to bid on the community center Speaker 6 00:15:47 Coming end month, Speaker 2 00:15:49 End of Speaker 6 00:15:50 First week in November. Right? Speaker 2 00:15:53 When, when will we be opening then and all that? Speaker 6 00:15:57 Probably first week in November. Speaker 2 00:16:00 Okay, great. A lot Speaker 7 00:16:01 Of interest, Speaker 2 00:16:02 Lot of, yeah, I'm not surprised. It's a lot of interest, Speaker 7 00:16:05 A lot, a lot of bids. Which is good. Speaker 6 00:16:08 A good thing. Speaker 2 00:16:09 Bidders that, I mean, I mean I, I don't wanna to disclose who they are because we, I should do that for competitive reasons, but bid bidders that you would recognize as being successful contractors on these types of big government projects. Speaker 7 00:16:22 Right. We don't know who's going to bid. We know, right? Who's picking up? So there's a lot of picking up to respect. We're answering questions on a weekly basis. We'll have some more questions on this Friday. Let people have a fairly competitive bid out there. Speaker 2 00:16:39 It's great if we were able to get bids that all come in and inspect and we'll be able to have a shovel in the ground as soon as the weather breaks. Speaker 6 00:16:51 Business Administrator, Speaker 3 00:16:52 Tim Speaker 6 00:16:55 Second Speaker 3 00:16:55 Council president, if I may, I just, I wasn't at the last meeting, I apologize. It could not be there. But at the meeting before there, I think it was a meeting before somebody had approached about our renewable energies and there had been some discussion that we might be almost at the, or close to possibly the goal that New Brunswick had. So I was, oh yeah, Speaker 6 00:17:18 We three Speaker 3 00:17:20 Maybe 30% or something like that. Maybe Speaker 6 00:17:23 A little bit Speaker 3 00:17:23 More than that. So I was just hoping that maybe the administration would look into maybe seeing how we could come down to those numbers and potentially look to see, you know, the plans that we have going forward that would even improve upon those numbers so that the residents can see that we be, we do, you know, we, we do a lot of this stuff sort of quietly doing the right thing, shared services and all that good stuff. We we're not jumping down, but it might be good for us to do that so that other organizations can see that we've been doing our due diligence with regard to sustainability and renewable energies. Speaker 2 00:18:01 Yeah, I, I agree. We've all talked about that here. We've talked about it amongst ourselves and you know, of all the reasons to be angry, I guess is probably an appropriate word with some of the things that have gone, Washington issues concerning climate are probably the most pressing. I, I think, I think I'd like to see us in the next, in, in this coming, you know, year make that a priority. You know, we had a lot of ideas we kicked around about things we could do and consultants and stuff like that. And I think we should really move forward and, and maybe set a good example for some of the other communities. I know that Mayor, you were involved with the National Mayors Conference and we signed on to that initiative. Maybe there's some additional things that, that we could be doing. Speaker 0 00:18:49 One of the things that I would like to recommend is to start looking into more fuel efficient cars and vehicles that we purchase. Speaker 2 00:18:57 Okay. Speaker 0 00:19:00 Okay. The only I wanted to add onto what Frank was saying that the Getaway Boys football team is doing great. So just wanna congratulate them on all their wins thus far and hopefully they continue. So looking forward to some good wins at the end of the season. Right Frank? Okay. At this time are there any comments or questions from the public would like to open floor to the public at this time, so please come to the podium. You state your name and address. You have three minutes to wish to speak. Yes, sir. Speaker 6 00:19:33 I ams Madison. I reside at 1 7 6 Blackford Avenue. Piscataway. Good evening. Speaker 0 00:19:39 Mr. Madison, Speaker 6 00:19:41 I, I had prepared a presentation for you and I saw Mayor in the hallway, mentioned the subject just came up about the mayor's conference and something about passing the last year. And I noticed the comments about going to more renewable energy in terms of thisaway and I think that's all a great idea. I would ask the Mayor instead of making my presentation to ask could you recap what the US Mayor's Conference recommended or said or how that works listed. If you want, I can get you a copy of the resolution. Well, let me be more Blount then. Does it ask for the United States National Government to pass national climate legislation? Yes. I think Piscataway won the 1300 towns that signed on to the Kyoto Speaker 2 00:20:36 Climate Change. We did that almost Speaker 6 00:20:40 2005, 77 years ago. It came out in 2005 originally as I read it, I didn't understand your answer to my question. Does, does the thing that was done last year recommend that the National Government pass the National Climate Legislation that includes I I believe it does sit, but I have to take a look back at it again and I don't wanna say yes and sure it does. Speaker 0 00:21:09 So Mr. Mass, do we have your phone or maybe phone? Alright, great. Speaker 6 00:21:13 So if you can come up and give a phone number and then we email address and then we'll, we'll get you a Speaker 2 00:21:17 Copy of it. My recollection is the National Conference of Mayors, our Mayor is a, is a participant in passed a resolution which was sent to the President Congress urging them to pass such legislation. We passed a resolution supporting that along with many other Speaker 6 00:21:37 Towns. Okay. I'll come back another time after I see what you've got. I'll get my telephone number and such. Thank. Speaker 0 00:21:46 Thank you Mr. Madison. Thank you. Any other comments or questions? So please recording and state your name and address, Mr. Rus. Sure, please. Recording. Good evening. Speaker 8 00:22:07 Evening, Curtis Grubb. 1750 Westbury. Speaker 6 00:22:10 Good evening. Mr. Gru. Speaker 8 00:22:12 I didn't even know after the Mayor, when are they on fence? That road or they, when they on er road on Second Street? Do you know about it? Speaker 6 00:22:24 What's scope? I know we did the curry and sidewalks out there on, on the homeowner's dock. Speaker 8 00:22:30 Yeah, no, I'm asking you, do you know when the county's going to do Speaker 6 00:22:33 The vote? I I don't know if it's, it's not in their schedule this year and maybe in next year's schedule. I have to check with the county. Speaker 8 00:22:42 I think I presented this to him about five years ago. The water doesn't drain properly. It comes down third, third street and supposed to go around down Hazelwood down second. Speaker 6 00:22:57 So, all right, Curtis, what we'll do is the next time there's a significant rainfall, the engineering department go take a quick look. Speaker 0 00:23:11 Thank you, Mr. Mr. Any other comments or questions from the public at this time? If so, please consider state your name and address and if need to speak, I close the public portion. Do have a motion to adjourn? Motion Second. All in favor? Aye. Good evening.
