Speaker 0 00:01:26 Any
Speaker 3 00:01:33 20 while 2250 Plainfield Avenue North. Just curious, given my previous issues that we are not gonna build any more warehouses on Randolphville in this area. You would hope given the
Speaker 1 00:01:50 The council
Speaker 4 00:01:52 President you, you can't say you can't build something, something zone for it. It's what It's,
Speaker 3 00:01:59 Try not to build any more warehouses. It's a health issue. It really is.
Speaker 1 00:02:04 Thank you.
Speaker 5 00:02:12 Berger Ellis Parkway. 2 33 Ellis. I think I said that. Two three. Three else. So this is currently zoned four. Industrial.
Speaker 4 00:02:19 Industrial. Industrial.
Speaker 5 00:02:24 And is there a developer who's been assigned or what's that? Is there a developer that's put forward a plan for the redevelopment? I'm sorry, I can't hear you.
Speaker 1 00:02:39 Mayor. Yeah,
Speaker 0 00:02:40 It's actually will board tomorrow night.
Speaker 1 00:02:43 It's
Speaker 5 00:02:43 A before, before the zoning board or the planning board. Honor before what Court
Speaker 4 00:02:52 Counsel president. This is to vacate the paper street where Luke Oil is right there. So it can be a four-way, inter true four-way intersection. Right now anybody that lives in an area knows that it can be very hazard the way that it's been over the years. This would require the gas station to have no left terms out on the site. They would have to come out to the intersection of the site and then also there would be no left turns into the gas station.
Speaker 6 00:03:26 Is that where the, is that where SS White should modify the intersection?
Speaker 4 00:03:30 No, SS White is doing some work out there. Not, not the other side that,
Speaker 0 00:03:34 The other
Speaker 6 00:03:35 Side. I know, but are they, are they gonna improve that intersection?
Speaker 0 00:03:38 Yes.
Speaker 5 00:03:40 It's really hard to hear when you guys don't talk to the mic. The rest of us. It's really hard to hear you counsel,
Speaker 0 00:03:45 If
Speaker 6 00:03:45 You don't mind. I can barely hear you either, but I will talk louder.
Speaker 5 00:03:47 No one's ever complained about me not being loud enough, but I appreciate it. You,
Speaker 6 00:03:51 You did that mumble thing. I don't know what I can never hear you. But my question is, is that where we gonna reconfigure that
Speaker 0 00:03:58 As part of that traffic point? Yes.
Speaker 4 00:03:59 The intersection will be a true forward intersection.
Speaker 0 00:04:03 Okay.
Speaker 5 00:04:06 And if I may, and I'm certain endeavor not to mumble, my mom says I took that. Sometimes
Speaker 0 00:04:13 I
Speaker 6 00:04:13 Can't, I can't. I could not understand what
Speaker 0 00:04:14 You were saying.
Speaker 5 00:04:15 You could. You could. Can you hear me? Yes. Okay. Okay. So I don't know what you wanna get that looked at. What meeting tomorrow night was a question?
Speaker 0 00:04:26 Yes. Which meeting is it? Tomorrow night. What board?
Speaker 5 00:04:33 Thank.

Speaker 0 00:05:04 Yes. Such agenda for items have been consolidated to agenda to be voting on together the, that these items have been distributed to the council. And we at this time, are there any items that the council would like removed from the consent agenda we discussed for vote on separately? Motion. Motion. Second. Second. You take
Speaker 2 00:05:29 Councilman Bullard?
Speaker 0 00:05:31 Yes.
Speaker 2 00:05:31 Councilman Cahn. Yes. Councilman Lombardi. Yes. Councilman Shaw? Yes. Council President
Speaker 0 00:05:37 Owen? Yes. Nine announcements and comments Officials? Not at this time. Thank you. I have no thank you. Thanks. No problem. Please state
Speaker 3 00:06:00 2250 Plainfield Avenue North. I spoke to Steve about when you repaved Plainfield Avenue. Plainfield Avenue North. They allowed cars to drive on it. I have hickory trees in front of my house or Hickory notes I took,
Speaker 7 00:06:16 I took just you
Speaker 3 00:06:17 Can, okay. I looked at
Speaker 7 00:06:19 The Mayor and they gonna go and look at it. I dunno if they have or not,
Speaker 3 00:06:21 But okay. I've seen no a activity. I just wanted to ask if it's 'cause they will be potholes pretty fairly quickly. So thank you.
Speaker 4 00:06:33 Just I'll let the record reflect. We don't make it a policy when the road is blocked off. We don't allow people to go around the barricades. It's one of those things that some of the residents around the barricade
Speaker 3 00:06:46 Money
Speaker 8 00:06:50 Most times Curtis item G, the first page I got here, they want a testing thing for sewer collectors. They want to test the water. What kind of situation is you gonna test A sewer collector? It hasn't been cleaned for two decades now.
Speaker 7 00:07:15 No, what we do is we have to sample our wastewater. So when we have big users, we actually sample the wastewater and they get charged by the percentages of different material that single water. And we're also required by the state to test our street sweepings. So when we sweep the streets, we can no longer just take it to the landfill. We have to pay to get it tested and certified that it can be landfill. So this is the company that does Garden State Laboratories, does the testing for both the waste water and street sweepings.
Speaker 4 00:07:47 This is something that's gone regularly.
Speaker 8 00:07:49 Well the wa it's required all the waste water is collected through the sewer collected and it goes on to the the reservoir.
Speaker 7 00:07:59 No waste.
Speaker 8 00:08:00 Now my thing is
Speaker 7 00:08:01 Wastewater is collected from the, the big users from your house. It goes into the sewer, it goes to the MCA. The big users are sampling. So we actually drop sample you out there once or twice a month and you take samples
Speaker 8 00:08:16 And
Speaker 7 00:08:16 You take samples and you send them to the lab and then they tell you how much glory and different things are in the water. And then that's what the big users are filled about.
Speaker 8 00:08:26 So, okay, so this is not from the water collectors? No, the street water. Thank you. The other thing I wanted to question out is, as these people that came to collect the leaves today, God bless them, they do carry a lot of weight. But I noticed right in front of Ms Lee's house, there's a tree that has a branch hanging over there. Do you think any one of them would make, would take a notice of that and make some kind of complaint about servicing a tree?
Speaker 7 00:09:02 Probably the guys that picked up the leaves. Probably not. They won't. But it's the homeowner calls
Speaker 8 00:09:07 And yeah, well there was a call, in fact there's another complaint over there on seventh in front of 1905 and seventh. It hasn't been serviced yet. The fee is dangerous. It needs to go and a lot of negligence going on. We need to improve our property maintenance considerations. Please get out to them people. We need help. No smiling. It's serious.
Speaker 7 00:09:46 Yeah. Actually have the report from property maintenance today and they issue the 11 pages worth of summonses. So they're out there working. We inspectors out there.
Speaker 8 00:09:56 It's easy to see to dish out summonses, but you know, we have to get after the work. It's, it's getting to the point where, alright, the residents don't even take pride in doing anything in the street because of this method. It's, I'm, I'm inclined to say that hey these summons are issued out and that it's not doing anything other than embezzlement for me. It's that I see public embezzlement here with the summative. Be careful please. It's hurting us. Thank you.
Speaker 1 00:11:06 And
Speaker 8 00:11:06 Really my day is tomorrow
Speaker 5 00:11:08 Staci Berger 2 33 Ellis Parkway.
Speaker 5 00:11:13 So couple, I guess two weeks ago I came and asked the council if you all would consider doing something in addition to lighting that beautiful Christmas tree and I brought Menora, which you could have in here or you could do something else with. And Councilman RN gave it back to me and said you weren't allowed to accept it. Which is a little strange since when we gave you the pride flag in June, you did take it. So I was wondering yeah if, I'm wondering if that was a mistake in June or a mistake this time and whether, I'm sorry Councilman Cahn you not hearing whether that will be something that you all will be addressing in terms of representing the diversity of our community to, I'm happy to lend it to you if you can't accept it as a, as a gift. If that's some kind of, I don't know if Raj has a thought or not, but if it would appear to be somehow a violation of an ethics rule to accept something like that. But you did do it in June and now you won't do it. So I don't, I'm getting mixed signals.
Speaker 9 00:12:22 We'll look into this.
Speaker 5 00:12:26 That doesn't answer the question. You'll look into what
Speaker 9 00:12:28 You, you asked me to look into whether they can accept those types of gifts. I will look into
Speaker 5 00:12:35 No, that's not what I asked. What I,
Speaker 9 00:12:37 That's that's,
Speaker 5 00:12:39 I asked whether we brought a pride flag in June, which was, which you all displayed when we were break flag. Do I
Speaker 9 00:12:45 Clarify whether those types of gifts can be accepted or not? Okay.
Speaker 5 00:12:50 Can can we loan it to you?
Speaker 9 00:12:53 I'll look into that and I'll let you know.
Speaker 5 00:12:55 Okay. So and how are you gonna let you know and by when
Speaker 9 00:12:59 I can look it up in the next few days and let you know. I'm sure if you give me your email address after the meeting I'll, I'll email you or probably you prefer
Speaker 5 00:13:07 Either way is fine. Email's good. But I guess the follow up question is whether the council's going to do anything beyond what you've done for this holiday season to acknowledge the other holidays, the other beliefs in our community or if we're, well
Speaker 2 00:13:22 Let, let me just say that we're clearly for all the diversity in our town, but that is a religious symbol. So if we're gonna have a menorah, that means we need to have a major also,
Speaker 5 00:13:35 You can have whatever you want. We
Speaker 2 00:13:36 Need, we need to cover all of the bases if we are gonna do something like that.
Speaker 5 00:13:40 Well the city of Trenton has a menorah and not a major and the city of East Brunswick has a menorah and a Christmas tree. And I'm pretty sure the city of Newark has a tree and a menorah and also the Kwanza. Can I know the name of which I forget. I don't know that that's we should
Speaker 2 00:13:57 Civilize everyone
Speaker 5 00:13:58 We are asking you to do. We're asking you to do just that Councilwoman, which would be great and a huge step forward from what we are doing now, which is to only acknowledge one,
Speaker 9 00:14:11 I'll clarify the policy
Speaker 4 00:14:13 Just for the record. I don't think the council needs to be lectured by Mrs. Berger on diversity this town. I think this governing body knows the diversity this can we have long before she moved into the,
Speaker 5 00:14:24 I've lived here my entire adult life. So thank you for calling me young, I appreciate it. I'm not lecturing anybody. We asked, I spoke, I spoke privately to council and came home last year. I didn't get anywhere with that. I came two weeks ago and asked and didn't get any response except to have something I gave of my own free will returned to me rather abruptly. So I'm asked, I'm not lecturing anyone Mr. Mayor. And I would think that this council as representative of our community would not need a resident to raise this and would've done something about it since 1957. So I'm bringing it forward again as a way to
Speaker 5 00:14:58 Give the council an opportunity to do the right thing before the season is over. So what I would appreciate is if somebody perhaps Councilwoman Lombardi, since you seem to be thoughtful about this, wants to have a discussion about it after the meeting or at another time or however is appropriate. But there are lots of other winter holidays and it would be nice to acknowledge them all as we are as I think our website says, diversified community, which don't think that's really what we need. Lots of little pieces. I think we made a diverse community. So it would be nice to be able to acknowledge all of the background space and beliefs of the residents of our town, of which I am one. Mr. Mayor, you may not like that but I'm not going.
Speaker 8 00:16:06 Good evening sir. 1750. What's third? I just wanna comment on my neighbor. I think he was asking about a tree that's diagonally across from his house was 58. Curtis, I want to know, does anyone like he not have? I think, does anyone go out and survey this? Because I've been here and I seen the tree kids walk on that sidewalk. The tree's going to get somebody some damage. Now I don't know how many times he's asked where it to come down. I'm asking. I seen it. The other issue is, I think the last meeting I expressed that thing with the coyote since then I heard the coyote got somebody on somebody's dog on possum town.
Speaker 7 00:16:58 Yes.
Speaker 8 00:16:58 Yes. Okay. I know I knew it was on the news I saw there, but I wanted to know what we you are doing to get the right people involved to get these t The
Speaker 7 00:17:14 State is correct. The state, the state C dean have been involved since the first sighting over at Rutgers. So the state has set track. They looked for searched through the ecological preserves. So the state fish game has jurisdiction over that. It's not a local issue for us, but we're working with them, keeping us informed on keeping health from and the police department, there've been several coyotes in hospital town for
Speaker 1 00:17:47 At
Speaker 7 00:17:48 Least 10
Speaker 6 00:17:48 Years. Yeah. Billy Curwood has a, has one in his yard once daily. The problem is, this particular one now has an issue.
Speaker 8 00:17:59 I don't, I don't know if it's the same one because he's a, he's a Hazelwood now. So
Speaker 6 00:18:03 No, I I don't think it is the
Speaker 8 00:18:04 Same. I don't think so. I think, I think it is. There's a den somewhere. I don't know if it's up there or back there. But that's why I wonder did you inform them that they needed to come to Haywood? Not up Ger school. I think there is a den back in here.
Speaker 7 00:18:17 I, I can't guess so there's a coyote there. You let us know and and we'll let the police know and I'll let the state number
Speaker 8 00:18:26 Let you know.
Speaker 7 00:18:27 So you just told me.
Speaker 8 00:18:28 No, no I told you last. I told you last week. I told you the last meeting. I know I, I told you my neighbor got out of her car and she thought it was a dog. Remember I think this is the conversation I had. Now you need to pull the minutes but remember I know I mentioned
Speaker 1 00:18:45 So
Speaker 8 00:18:46 Don't say I didn't.
Speaker 7 00:18:48 I'll let the police department know tonight and we'll let the state know tonight.
Speaker 1 00:18:53 Okay. Thank you. We're
Speaker 0 00:19:02 Close. Public portion. Do I have a motion? Second. Second. Second. All in favor? Aye. Aye. Adjourn. Speaker 0 00:28:21 Thank honor. No thank you. No thanks. I 39. Open to the public please. Your name, your address. You have three minutes to speak.
Speaker 10 00:28:38 Yeah, 13 Fountain Avenue. I had a, just a technical question 'cause I'm starting to study the budget, which is very daunting. Just tell me, I'm, I'm not questioning resolution, I just want to know technically items 12 and 13, what does it mean authorizing budget transfers, just moving things between departments.
Speaker 7 00:29:03 Right. So the way we're on a calendar year budget, so the way that we do our budget is we introduce it in the screen, leave it around equal, and then in the course of the year, you, you stay within that budget and then in your last three months of the year, if you've run over one area and you're not over another area, you're allowed to transfer between, between the departments as long as you stay within the original
Speaker 10 00:29:30 Budget. Sure. And the emergency temporary budget is,
Speaker 7 00:29:34 So the budget budget expires our budget that was adopted expires on December 31st. Not allowed to introduce a new budget until after the governor's budget message. Gotcha. Which is generally around February 20th or so. So in the meantime it would take essentially one 12 of what we spent in this year. And it would do a budget generally for two months or three months. We
Speaker 10 00:29:58 Do
Speaker 7 00:29:59 Three twelves or two twelves. And that's your emergency temporary budget while you working on your budget.
Speaker 10 00:30:05 Good. That's what I want to know. I have one more question, which is, I've only lived here seven years, so I'm not gonna get into a match with anybody about longevity here. But as a relatively new resident of the town who's lived in other towns in New Jersey, I I just don't understand the tone and the resistance to having a more diverse holiday display. I really don't see why it's an issue and I don't even consider that, you know, for most people in most towns in the state, it's just something where we can come together as a holiday. It's really a solstice holiday for me anyway. But I'm happy to celebrate everyone else's traditions. So I don't see why it requires this deep of, of a reaction. Cease
Speaker 5 00:31:11 Burger 2 33 Ellis Parkway. So the last couple of times I've raised this, I Raj has said that or the town is not allowed to require employers to hire or set aside a preference or percentage or track. And Mr. Staci and Cynthia, they're allowed to ask them and you can't report required to tell us how many Piscataway residents are hired by our, by companies that come here with or without a tax break. So I'm wondering if we could at least get a working definition of what a great job for Piscataway residents mean. 'cause I've seen that a whole bunch and I'm curious if there's any kind of metric from the council. Like are you consider, what do you consider a great job? Minimum wage labor benefits full time? Does anybody
Speaker 6 00:32:01 Well, I I think a great job is very, depends on who is, frankly, you know, the, some of those jobs and those factory jobs are paying 80, $90,000 a year. Am I right there? But I mean, a great job is very dependent on who the individual is. Some people a part-time job that pays $20,000 a year is a, is a great job. So I'm not sure what you mean by a great job, but some of these companies that have come to town are, are paying a lot. Am I, am I right there?
Speaker 5 00:32:30 We don't know that. I mean, we don't know that The public doesn't know that because there's no data. So I'm trying to get a handle 'cause I keep seeing it. Public relations.
Speaker 6 00:32:37 Well they advertise those, I mean mean we don't, we only know it because the companies publicize the jobs and we pay attention to what they're doing. So we do too. They don't report it to us, but they Right.
Speaker 5 00:32:49 People advertise generally up to a certain amount. They don't actually talk about what the, what the starting salary. Sometimes they advertise them.
Speaker 6 00:32:57 I'm not really sure what you're, what you're asking us to do.
Speaker 5 00:33:01 Exactly. I'm asking
Speaker 2 00:33:02 The salary has to be high to be a good job. I don't understand
Speaker 5 00:33:05 What you're asking. I'm I'm, I'm asking you how you define what a great job is because the Mayor and other folks in the PR department are putting out press releases constantly saying these these employers are offering someone
Speaker 2 00:33:17 To work.
Speaker 6 00:33:17 If it doesn't have a job and you get one,
Speaker 5 00:33:19 It's a great job. Well, putting someone to work is a job. It may a great job. It implies that it has benefits, potentially union protection. I, I
Speaker 2 00:33:29 Work at a job. I don't receive benefits, but I have a great job.
Speaker 5 00:33:34 Okay. As
Speaker 2 00:33:35 A hairdresser, I do not receive benefits in my job, but I consider my job a great job. Right.
Speaker 5 00:33:40 I'm trying to get a working well, I'm
Speaker 2 00:33:41 Not really sure where you're going with that.
Speaker 6 00:33:43 Let me ask you a question.
Speaker 5 00:33:44 When you, when
Speaker 6 00:33:45 You read or disagree that one of our functions as local government is to attract businesses and develop jobs for, for residents, not just in the scout but in the area. Do you agree that's one of our roles to do that?
Speaker 5 00:33:57 I I agree that it's one of your roles to do that responsibly. I would like to know, I would like to know, and I think a lot of other people, I got asked on Saturday by a constituent whether there's a way for her to get a position in one of the, the towns, the towns openings because she's a resident and she wanted to know why those jobs weren't going specifically to Piscataway residents were having a preference for Piscataway residents. She said she, she came to a meeting, she asked what, what the Mayor meant by great job. We had talked about what a great job could mean for a lot of different people. I've seen that phrase thrown around. I would like, would like to know if there's some metric that you are using to measure how many jobs, what they pay, what is great, what is not great. And there are definitely some jobs, you know, pay better than others. Most people would like to be paid more. I think, I mean, I haven't met anybody who said, no, please don't gimme a raise or, that would be terrible. So my, my first question is do we have a working definition that we're evaluating what, what these employers are and second
Speaker 6 00:35:03 Job and a job. Any job is a great job. I don't believe any job. It's an honest job. Is is a bad job. There are certainly some companies that are, are not good employers. But I do for a living. But I mean, if you don't need a job and there's one that fits your job skills and arrange that you're looking for and you're able to get it from one of these companies that moves the town, that's the definition of a great job for that person. It's different for every person.
Speaker 2 00:35:30 It could be a trade, it could be a trade job. Of course
Speaker 5 00:35:32 It did.
Speaker 6 00:35:33 Right.
Speaker 2 00:35:34 And some of them don't pay that
Speaker 6 00:35:35 Benefits. I'm not an electrician, but that company over there hired a hundred electricians and they were paying them 85, $90,000 a year and they were skilled workers. That's a great job for, for many of those folks who didn't have a job or had a job much less than that. Other folks. Maybe you are working in one of the hotels in town and are making a third, a third of that. But for them that's a great job. I think our obligation is to try and create an economic environment where there's a variety of jobs that meet different categories from high paying jobs, from high tech jobs to to, you know, restaurant type jobs because that's what an economy is about. It doesn't have one type of particular job. It has a variety of jobs. I think that's what our, our responsibility is. I think we've done that frankly.
Speaker 5 00:36:18 And so the second question is, are there, is there a preference for pi scatter residents for public employment? So if there's a job, the library or I don't
Speaker 6 00:36:25 Know if
Speaker 5 00:36:28 Other, what'd you say?
Speaker 6 00:36:32 There's legal limitations on what you can,
Speaker 5 00:36:34 There always limitations requirements
Speaker 6 00:36:36 To work in the town. You can have, you can have there, you can have some requirements that they live in the town for a certain amount of time. You can, you can't have,
Speaker 5 00:36:44 Do we have any of those requirements? We, I mean other towns have residency requirements for firefighters, police officers, all the police.
Speaker 6 00:36:51 You, you say those things Ms. Berger as if you know, but these reality
Speaker 5 00:36:55 Do
Speaker 6 00:36:55 Those things are not accurate. You can have requirements that people live in a particular town to get hired for the job, but you can't require a firefighter, for example.
Speaker 5 00:37:03 I'm pretty sure the state of New Jersey requires all the public employees that work for the state to live in New Jersey. Chris Christy did that. I'm pretty sure I'm not saying that necessarily put something for Christie did, but I'm pretty sure that he did that. They
Speaker 6 00:37:14 Also have exemptions for
Speaker 5 00:37:15 It. I'm asking, I'm not, I'm not arguing the back and forth. I'm asking whether the town has any preferential treatment. Thank you for your promise. I'm telling you, well Mr
Speaker 6 00:37:27 Can't do, you can't do some of the things that, some of those things are great ideas, but there's tons of litigation about those things that prohibit talents from doing some of those things. You can't do it. You can't require your police officers to all in town. It's a great idea. I agree. Police
Speaker 5 00:37:42 Officer, I didn't say it a great idea or not a great idea. I was asking about whether we have anything. Okay. Thanks
Speaker 11 00:37:58 Agent. Good evening counsel. I item number 16, just for clarification, do we have this equipment now or ever had this equipment simulator?
Speaker 7 00:38:16 Simulator? No, it's, it's brand new and we had it dropped off here and used it as a for testing for several weeks. And the man staff police department determined that it's a good idea. We also use it for training for, for CBL drivers to get some training on. And the goal is to reduce the, the number of accidents that our our town cars are in and to improve the driver's safety role. Our police officers DPW police.
Speaker 11 00:38:50 So that's strictly for public works and the police department? Correct?
Speaker 7 00:38:59 Yes. And anybody else then if, if we see anybody else who we think needs training, we get it done, we depart, do training for them.
Speaker 11 00:39:08 How long does this similar? Is it, well where do you keep it at?
Speaker 7 00:39:12 It's gonna be in the training room in the police department. How big is it? It's
Speaker 11 00:39:18 Test computer type
Speaker 7 00:39:20 Like use, have new arcades except a little bit bigger. The screen is a little bit bigger. So they have almost as if you were sitting in a car. So it's two oh degrees around the car seat. It looks like you're sitting in the
Speaker 11 00:39:33 Car. Okay. Item number 21, change order two. Now I know it's an older building. You have to tear on walls, you find things that you didn't tell you couldn't see, but half a million dollars might as well say it would kind of change whole.
Speaker 7 00:39:54 Yeah, the two, the two biggest things that were unanticipated were, we had unsuitable soil that we had to dispose of, which is $250,000. And then we also decided after we were building it to put in up to 12 charging stations. So we were buying charging stations wired it. So the charging stations for the electric cars is roughly 195,000. So those two items alone were roughly four 50.
Speaker 11 00:40:25 So the charging station was a afterthought? Yes. Oh, I thought that was all included initially in the project.
Speaker 7 00:40:35 Now, now we are hoping, we're hoping they'd be able to apply for the money through grants. If the problem is through the grant programs are available is you'd have to apply for it and then wait up to here to see whether they get the money. And we felt that we rather just be proactive and put it in. So construction move ahead very quickly. So we wanted to get, while the construction is a lot cheaper to do all the wiring wire electrical room under the, the conduit is a lot cheaper to do in your building than we start tearing up sidewalks and stuff in the stuff. So it's fully wired down.
Speaker 11 00:41:13 Thank you.
Speaker 3 00:41:21 Good evening everybody. Howard one 15th Fountain Avenue. I just would like to ask a little bit information about number 28 resolution authorizing the purchase of three Ford Escape SE four wheel drive I think for 83,900. Could you please just inform me a little bit and the audience generally about how cars are obtained and what use these would be put to. And then whether I'm particularly interested in whether or not there would be a chance to obtain cars that are not polluting. Like I, I drive a Prius, which I think costs less than this. And certainly if you buy three in a row or three together, you get a good bullet price.
Speaker 6 00:42:06 Well those, these vehicles are all under state contract is the answer. In other words, there's state negotiates it. They're all under their state contract. There's the answer to how they're bought. Okay. Second, the more important part of your question is, I I I'm interpreting your question to be, why don't you all buy some more environmentally friendly cars?
Speaker 3 00:42:25 Right. That whole we, if that's
Speaker 6 00:42:27 Possible, you gonna see us do that next? You're gonna see that us doing that this year.
Speaker 3 00:42:32 Okay, great. And can you just spell out a little bit more Alderman Kahn about the, I'm not an alderman but, well, I'm sorry. Great
Speaker 6 00:42:39 Title.
Speaker 3 00:42:41 The how the state does this ing and why Skyway is tied to that state. Sure.
Speaker 6 00:42:47 The state has procurement experts, purchasing experts and they go out and negotiate a price list for all sorts of items in, in mass. Pick whatever item you want. I'm not sure if water's under state Cahn, but not many things that are under state contract. And so there's what's called electronic price list that's created and we can purchase those things off of that. Electronic price has been negotiated by procurement experts working for the state. Some items under statute you have to go out for bid. Some items you can buy under state contract. It just depends on what those items are and are not. My expertise ends at some point on the road, on that road. Tim knows more about that than I do. But that's essentially how we do it. It's listed under an item we can buy in our state contract. And vehicles generally are, we can buy 'em that way and we're really gonna get the lowest negotiated price. 'cause someone who's an expert is negotiating a price at every municipality, every county public entity in the state can purchase that.
Speaker 3 00:43:42 Okay. So the
Speaker 6 00:43:44 School
Speaker 3 00:43:45 Districts. School districts. Many cases. Right. Okay. So the then if you, you're saying in the future is going to move in this direction of cars that are not polluting. So that would be through the state. You would put pressure in the state to buy and then you would buy from the state or obtain from the state.
Speaker 6 00:44:04 Well, one of the, one of the issues is I'm not sure that that is those type of vehicles that meet the requirements that we need are, are available in our state contract yet they they will be.
Speaker 3 00:44:14 They will be.
Speaker 6 00:44:16 I mean it's one of, it's one of the objectives of of
Speaker 3 00:44:19 The governor. Yeah. This is a four wheel drive. I don't if that means you have to have the four wheel drive, but I mean some electric cars have four wheel drive and they more will in the future. Many more
Speaker 4 00:44:30 Will agree. Yeah, I sure. Right. Okay. Thank you. I just was curious about that. Thank you. Speak p May, there's been a lot of questions by an individual here about preferential hiring the scattered resident businesses, current businesses, scattered residents. But you know what, her husband has been on educational for six years and last time I checked that the board of education wasn't item. Okay. You can't make egregious statements. Yeah, you know what, you can't just say things about me as a person and my husband at the end of a you can't you that it's really inappropriate, pretty petty. You have something you just, sorry, come say it to me. To use your, to use your.
