And I believe the Mayor is gonna read that proclamation for us.
Speaker 3 00:23:07 Thank you, council president. I would like to read a proclamation and it says, whereas the Township of Piscataway supports the rights of every resident to COVID six, with equality and freedom from discrimination. And whereas the Mayor and council are committed to keeping Piscataway an inclusive and welcoming community for all. And whereas while society is slowly embracing new definitions of sexuality and gender, we must recognize that increased education. Whereas Piscataway appreciates the rich diversity of ethnic cultural, racial, sexual orientation, and gender identities of the residents of our town. And whereas June is celebrated as LGTBQ pride month nationwide. Now, therefore I, Brian Wahler at the Mayor of Piscataway Township county, Middlesex state of New Jersey declared a month of June, 2022 to be pride month and encouraging all Township residents to continue to the principles of Liberty quality inclusivity for all, which, by the way, as everybody knows, we have pride our beautiful community center where proudly flies. So that back to
Speaker 2 00:24:22 Thank you, Mayor, we'll now move to number 16, which are announcements and comments from officials, this Cahill.
Speaker 11 00:24:34 Hi, sorry about that. I can't find the unmute button this time around. So I would like to comment on the fact that the town is celebrating pride month in June as a proud ally and having a family member who's part of the LGBTQ community. You know, these are folks who've been singled out for years and years, not feeling comfortable walking down the street or being stared at. And I know that firsthand as my niece went through that. So I'm, I'm proud of this. And I'm so glad that we are recognizing pride month and so proud that this is part of the way that this Township is moving. And I would also like to say, I don't believe we're gonna have a meeting before the 4th of July. We also too have our street fair this Saturday, please come out. I believe the hours are 10 to four. This year it'll be held behind the Y M C a on a street said actually is a street there. So please come out. There are a lot of good things going on in town this month. And then throughout the summer, we really ask their residents, participate, go to the website and learn about all that this town has to offer. Thank you.
Speaker 2 00:25:58 Thank you, Mrs. Cahill. Councilman Cahn.
Speaker 7 00:26:02 Yes. Thank you. I have a couple quick comments. First. I wanna point out on the consent agenda. We authorize additional road improvements on both second and third, over in the Poman town area. And you know, it's a demonstration of our longstanding commitment to improve the roads in that area, which is an older part of town. And to the residents over there, they they've noticed over the last couple years, we've systematically improved one road after another and glad that we're, those are two very important streets in town that get a lot of traffic. So I just wanted to point out to folks because they don't necessarily look at the consent agenda that those two important items were on tonight. I wanna also echo what my colleagues said about pride month. You know, one of the great things about Piscataway is it's always been a really inclusive community for all sorts of folks. It's always been a place where people can get along with each other, regardless of where they came from, what they look like. And that's one of the things that drew me to this town and, you know, pride month is a good example of that. So with that said, I thank you, council president for giving me a
Speaker 2 00:27:17 Thank you so much for those comments. Lynn, would comments, Lynnwood Rouse?
Speaker 12 00:27:24 No comment.
Speaker 2 00:27:31 Councilman Chaill. Did we have any comments?
Speaker 10 00:27:35 The first thing is Picard high school graduates 2022 graduation graduate to almost like Congress relation to all the students. And the second thing on Saturday, June 18 is work for health, Riverside park 9:00 AM. So anybody interested for that work for health, please be there by eight 30 and registration, Saturday eight 30, so 9:00 AM at the start for Riverside park. Thank you. But he was said, but thank you.
Speaker 2 00:28:05 Thank you, Councilman Councilman. Uhrin
Speaker 8 00:28:08 No comment.
Speaker 2 00:28:10 Mayor Brian Wahler
Speaker 3 00:28:12 I'm actually thinking about registering my two labs for the walk. So I have to check and see if that's legal or not. So that's pretty much it. Council president
Speaker 2 00:28:24 Business Administrator, Tim Dacey,
Speaker 7 00:28:26 Nothing tonight. Thank you.
Speaker 2 00:28:28 Our Township attorney, Raj Kumar.
Speaker 12 00:28:31 No, no comments. Thank you.
Speaker 2 00:28:33 And I will finish off with that. I am extremely proud that we are flying the pride flag very high at our community center. I also want to just make sure that everybody does know that we are having another meeting before 4th of July. It is on June 28th and one of the other upcoming items that we have for the Township that I so look forward to because I'm a music fan are our concerts will be returning to the park this year. And we have four concerts on July 7th. They will be starting with tequila rose, which would, will be a country band on July 21st. We'll have Julian and Dominique, which is a husband and wife that I have seen very frequently. And I actually have recommended to bring to the town. They are phenomenal. August 4th, we have color blind. And on August 18th we have the verdict reggae band. So we're so looking forward to getting back to normal with our concerts over there in the park for this year of 2022. And that's all I have for this evening. So we will now move on to the number 17, which is the agenda session for June 28th, 2022.
Speaker 2 00:29:54 So first up on the agenda, we'll have an ordinance that will be second reading. It's the acquisition of the block 1 0 1 lot 32 dash one, and it will be open to the public and it will be an adopting ordinance. Do we have any questions or concerns regarding that? Seeing none? The next one item online will be ordinance second reading authorizing the purchase of block 2 0 8, lot two, and approving the appraisal and it will be open to the public. Do we have any questions concerning this item? Next up will be a second reading amending chapter seven, traffic, the traffic section 14, no parking, and it will be open to the public, the resolution adopting ordinance, any questions or concerns.
Speaker 2 00:30:49 We will have a resolution authorizing the refund of an overpayment of fees at the police department, a resolution authorizing cancellation of taxes for a 100% tax exempt block 1 8 8 lot 2 7 0 1, a resolution authorizing refund of kid zone, vendor fee, and a resolution for a liquor license renewal at this moment. That's all we have on the agenda. I'm sure there will be more to come. So that will conclude number 17. So at number 18, we will now open to the public. If you wish to speak at this time, please raise your hand either on zoom app or if by pressing star nine on your phone. So please be advised to answer, to please ask all of the questions that you have and state your name and address at that time. So we're now open to the public council president. I'm asking the first individual with their hand raised unmute himself.
Speaker 5 00:32:24 Hi, Brian, Raj 1247 Brookside road. Again, I wonder if you'd go into more detail about that 4 31 park ad property that looks like it's like two and a half blocks away from the community center. So I feel like representing that is just the community center isn't really working for me. Is there, was there like a typo in the address or something? That was it. Thanks.
Speaker 6 00:32:48 No, there's no typo. So behind the community center is Stockton street and the property from the edge of Stockton street to that house is all owned by the Township. So in the future, if there's any other recreational projects go out there by acquiring this house, we will own the entire parcel of land behind Stockton street, between park and the road that's in behind the house. So it is behind the community center and it is next, the publicly owned lands, which is expanding the publicly owned land we have there.
Speaker 2 00:33:28 Thank you, Mr. Dacey council president, I'm asking our next individual with our hand raised to the
Speaker 13 00:33:44 Hi. This is Kratovil also 1247 Brookside road. I just had a few quick items. Why does this council meeting conflict with two other public meetings this evening just being the zoning board and the school board meeting by scheduling this way, your depriving residents of the opportunity to engage with more than one aspect of our Township government. And I really don't think that we should have to choose how we engage and a continuation of that note. I'll repeat a question, asked that the last meeting, which was not answered, why are the Township offices not reopened to the public? And these meetings are still held a hundred percent virtually. I believe residents should be able to obtain services in person without having to schedule appointments. And I know that I would like to attend meetings in person again, cause I'm sure others would as well. And my final comments today are for Mayor Wahler.
Speaker 13 00:34:41 I really take exception to being called a partisan agent at the last counsel meeting. When I speak at these public meetings, I'm representing myself as a resident of Piscataway, not anything else. As I specifically mentioned in my comments at the previous meeting, just because I disagree with you about a decision you or members of the council are making, does not make me some kind of political operative. And in my estimation estimation, it's highly inappropriate for you as an elected official to use this forum, to make personal attacks against those people you perceive as your political opponents. And I would really appreciate an apology. Thank you. And that concludes my comments this evening.
Speaker 2 00:35:24 Thank you, Mrs. Kratovil first. Let me answer the first one. I believe every year after we have an election, we traditionally always have the meeting on the Thursday after. So it is pretty traditional and it's not anything new that we haven't done before. In other years, following an election day, being on the Tuesday of the evening that we traditionally have a meeting. So it's very traditional to have our meeting following up on a Thursday of the, the same week. And as for the other items, I will allow Mr. Dacey or Mr Gamar to answer those questions.
Speaker 6 00:36:05 So we've got two, two issues. One is the building with the employees. We've got protective equipment that is on order. That is backlog that we're waiting to receive. And once we receive it and have it installed, it'll be safer in the building to, to open up to the public right now, we don't really have a problem with people dealing with the, the public wall transactions are being done. We've got Dropbox, that's checked hourly for people who drop things off here. People call make appointments. Our clerk's office is working standard procedure. You just have to wait do, and they come out and bring you in and you get whatever your licenses and stuff that you need. So we don't believe that it's hindering, but we do want it to be safe for our employees. And for, for the customers that come in there are COVID is still out there.
Speaker 6 00:36:54 There's there's COVID in, in Piscataway, there's in publicly owned buildings in Piscataway. So we still do need to be careful. And on the public meetings we've waiting, we've got about $200,000 worth of camera recording gear. That's also on, on Payton recorded it. We're waiting for it to come in and that's gonna be installed with the council chambers so that we can do the public meetings in accordance with the ordinance that was past a while back. So that equipment is on order. And once it's in install, we'll consider opening up for the public cause we'll able to fulfill the demands of the ordinance, which we currently can't do if we have in person meetings.
Speaker 2 00:37:43 Thank you, Mr. Dacey, do we have anyone else? There are no other individuals with their hands raise at this time. Thank you. At this time, we'll close. The public portion of the meeting. Number 19 is an adjournment. May I have a motion to adjourn? Motion to adjourn. May I have a second? Second? All those in favor, please say aye. Aye. Have a nice evening, everyone.
Speaker 6 00:38:28 Thank you everyone.
Speaker 2 00:38:31 See you folks. Good evening.
